About Us
Enniscorthy Choral Society is an amateur mixed voice group of auditioned singers from Enniscorthy and Co. Wexford in Ireland.
A member of The Association of Irish Choirs, our goal is to promote the singing and enjoyment of choral music. We are united by a commitment to provide a music resource for Enniscorthy and the county at large. Through our efforts, we aim to encourage a singing tradition, to develop performances of the highest standards and, to stimulate greater appreciation and enjoyment of choral music.
The choir rehearse once a week and at present have approximately 45 members. Enjoying great support from local audiences and the community at large, the choir has also travelled extensively across Europe to critical acclaim.
In addition to singing major classical choral works such as Verdi's Requiem, DeRegge Mass in Honour of St. Oliver Plunkett, Ian Wilson's Harbouring, the choir also has a very varied repertoire covering many musical periods and genres including secular & sacred classical forms; pop, modern and jazz, traditional, folk, gospel, Irish language and world music, not forgetting Christmas compositions.
Enniscorthy Choral Society like to balance hard work with many social activities. These include social gatherings for members & friend’s gatherings, trips away and various other social events throughout the year. Available to sing for important occasions and municipal events in our community’s life, the choir usually organise one fundraising event for a worthy charity or not-for-profit organisation each year. The Christmas season is also a very busy time for the choir.
