Membership
Membership to the choir is open to all ages, denominations and cultures and currently extends beyond the town into the surrounding hinterland and county. The choral society’s only criterion for admission to the choir is a simple audition.
The audition involves the evaluation of a prospective members voice and singing range. Successful entrants are placed into appropriate choral sections; namely Soprano, Alto, Tenor or Bass.
Full members annual subscriptions fee is currently set at €150. There is also a weekly raffle of €2.Associate membership is also available for non-singers at an annual subscription fee of €50.
The choir has a Dress Code and all new members are asked to become familiar with this code.
Members do not have to have any previous experience with choral works and it is not necessary to be able to read music. Sectional line recordings and sheet music are distributed by the choral society's Music Librarian. From time to time, members are required to pay a small fee for additional sheet music and CD's.
All members of the choir are re-auditioned every three years. The choral society currently boasts 45 members.
