Enniscorthy Choral Society - Music Director

Our Music Director, Donagh Wylde, B. Mus, L.T.C.L, Adv. Dip. Kodály Institute Hungary, is a native of Ennis, Co. Clare.

Donagh Wylde - Music Director of Enniscorthy Choral Society

Starting his musical studies at an early age, Donagh studied Piano with Gerard Shanahan at Limerick Municipal School of Music, and later at the College of Music in Dublin. In 1984 Donagh was awarded a Bachelor of Music Degree at University College Dublin and became a Licentiate of Trinity College London. Following this he studied organ with Peter Sweeny.

In 1989 Donagh undertook post-graduate studies in Conducting, Piano, Singing and Music Education at The Zoltán Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music in Hungary.

In 1990 he was awarded the 'Sarolta Kodály International Scholarship' by the Hungarian government and subsequently spent a second year studying in Hungary.

Donagh now lives in Wexford and since 1991 has taught Piano, Keyboard, Singing and Music Theory based on the Kodály philosophy and methods of Music Education.

He is on the examiners panel for The Royal Irish Academy of Music and is Music Director of Enniscorthy Choral Society since it foundation in 1993. Donagh has travelled extensively with the choir in Ireland, the U.K. and the European mainland, winning various international choral competition prizes through the years.

Donagh continually strives for excellence with Enniscorthy Choral Society. His ingenuity and creativeness in voice production techniques, musical interpretation and genuine love of all things musical allows each choir member to experience the joy of choral singing.
