Rehearsals
The choir rehearses every Monday night in the music room at Coláiste Bride, Enniscorthy, Co. Wexford from 8pm sharp to 10pm during the choral term. The venue for rehearsal may change from time to time depending on what events or concerts are coming up, but all members will be informed in advance. For directions to Coláiste Bride, please see the map below.
Generally divided into four-parts (SATB) and sometimes eight-parts (SSAATTBarB) each rehearsal session has pre-assigned homework. Homework must be covered and practised by members using sectional CD's and sheet music during the week. Members must do their homework and not depend on others to carry their section. The whole emphasis at rehearsals is to develop the musicality of a piece of music and to work on an arrangement as a whole.
It is always a good idea to bring some water to drink during the rehearsal and don't forget a pencil to write notes.
For those new to the choir or those who may be missing sheet music or sectional CD's, please contact your Section Leader or the Music Librarian.
The choir performs at pre-arranged engagements, formal and informal concerts and at various national and international competitions throughout the year. Prior big events or concerts, extra rehearsals may be called. Full attendance is required. Also there may be sectional rehearsals. This is where each sections within the choir have a workshops for their music part. This can replace some or all of the normal Monday night rehearsal time.
Also, when the opportunity arises, the choir run workshops and master classes in voice production with distinguished and world renowned conductors and composers. All members are strongly encouraged to attend these very special events.
We encourage all prospective new members to come along to a rehearsal and, if you think Enniscorthy Choral Society will suit you, arrange a time for an audition with our Music Director, Donagh Wylde.
